An organic vineyard is farmed without using synthetic pesticides, synthetic herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers. Regenerative Organic® farming builds on this foundation but goes further  by actively improving soil health, increasing biodiversity, and supporting long-term ecosystem balance, an approach that benefits both the land and the expressiveness of the wine.

A Regenerative Organic Certified® vineyard is organic certified, but uses additional techniques and practices to prioritize soil health, carbon capture, animal welfare, and social fairness. As part of the Regenerative Organic Certification® standards, we practice minimal tilling (and are moving toward complete no-till), which in turn sequesters carbon and helps reduce our carbon footprint. Additionally, we bring sheep onto the property in the winter months to graze our cover crop, which prevents the soil compaction caused by tractor mowing and adds natural fertilizer. We adhere to and support Regenerative Organic Certification® standards for everyone working at Ambar Estate, which include fair hiring practices, non-discrimination, protection from abuse and harassment, equal pay, health and safety, and commitment to paying a living wage.

Ambar Estate is proud to be the first Regenerative Organic Certified® vineyard in the Willamette Valley. To explore other Regenerative Organic Certified® brands and products, visit the Regenerative Organic Alliance website.

No. As part of our commitment to Regenerative Organic® farming, Ambar Estate does not use synthetic herbicides (including glyphosate), synthetic pesticides, or synthetic fertilizers. Yes. In addition to Regenerative Organic Certification®, Ambar Estate holds certifications from CCOF, LIVE (Low-Input Viticulture and Enology), Salmon-Safe, and Bee-Friendly Farming. The vineyard is also completely dry-farmed, using no irrigation.

At Ambar Estate, farming and winemaking are inseparable, and we believe great wines begin in the vineyard. Our focus begins in the vineyard by improving soil health, increasing biodiversity, and farming without synthetic inputs. Our estate-grown Oregon wines are crafted with precision and restraint, using hand harvesting, hand sorting, whole-cluster pressing, native fermentations, and minimal intervention.

According to our winemaker, Bryan Weil, it begins in the soil. Healthier, more biologically active soils help the vines ripen more evenly and naturally, leading to wines with greater balance, freshness, and clarity of flavor. “You don’t taste ‘organic’ as a flavor,” Bryan explains, “but you can often notice a cleaner fruit expression, more precise acidity, and a sense of purity that comes from healthier vineyard ecology.” Our cover crops, which include many native wildflowers, also help to keep the vineyard cooler during the summer months, which allows the clusters to hang longer on the vine and develop more concentration of flavor before harvest.

The Dundee Hills AVA is known for iron-rich Jory soils, elevation, and cooling influences, all of which contribute to balance and structure in the vineyard. These conditions allow Ambar Estate to produce Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that are distinctly Oregonian, while our Regenerative Organic® farming practices result in pristine, flavorful fruit and, ultimately, beautiful wines.

In general, at Ambar Estate we strive for expressive Chardonnay that emphasizes freshness and texture, and Pinot Noir that highlights elegance, structure, and depth. Ambar Estate’s Lustral Chardonnay is a rich, textured, and expressive white wine with vibrant acidity balanced by a layered palate of citrus, stone fruit, white florals, and subtle notes of oak. Sacra Terra Pinot Noir is a rich red wine offering a more aromatic and structured expression than the Lustral Chardonnay, with red fruit, baking spice, earthy nuance, and silky tannins carrying through a long, balanced finish.  Both wines are intended to age for extended periods.

Ambar Estate is best known for its Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, both shaped by Dundee Hills terroir and our Regenerative Organic® farming practices. We also offer a Rosé of Pinot Noir during the spring and summer season, and limited quantities of sparkling wine, such as our 2022 Blanc de Blancs.

Ambar Estate’s first-ever sparkling wine, the 2022 Blanc de Blancs, is a sparkling wine of remarkable vibrancy and complexity. It was crafted using the traditional method (méthode champenoise) with patience and intention, and aged en tirage for three years. As a founding member of Method Oregon, we are proud to be part of a collective dedicated to producing world-class traditional method sparkling wines and advancing Oregon’s reputation as a premier sparkling wine region. The Method Oregon seal on our label signifies that our wine is made in accordance with one of the world’s most rigorous standards for the farming and production of traditional method sparkling wine.

Ambar Estate has eliminated foil capsules to reduce waste, a small change that reflects a broader commitment to thoughtful, sustainable practices as part of our Regenerative Organic® commitment.

Our goal is to channel the full potential of our estate fruit into Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with the structure to age alongside the greatest examples in the world and develop beautiful tertiary aromas and flavors. Both the Lustral Chardonnay and Sacra Terra Pinot Noir can age 10–15 years, and our Estate Pinot Noir and Estate Chardonnay can age 8-10 years.
