Rob Townsend

Rob is the founder and owner of several Oregon wine businesses including Ambar Estate, Vinovate Custom Wine Services and Radiant Sparkling Wine.  After a long career in international law and finance, Rob fulfilled his dream to transition to a new career in the wine industry by investing in the Dundee Hills of Oregon after extensive research on alternative sites in Oregon and California and by completing the University of California Davis Winemaking Certificate Program.  Today he is focused on perfecting Regenerative Organic® viticulture at the Ambar Estate and Vinovate vineyards, overseeing the creation of esteemed Ambar Estate wines that reflect the remarkable estate vineyards, and providing small lot highly customized wine services to the community to promote the production of world class Willamette Valley sparkling and still wines.  In his previous life, Rob worked as a Corporate and M&A partner for the global law firm Morrison & Foerster and then joined SoftBank as its global Chief Legal Officer and member of several investment committees and portfolio company boards.  Rob presently serves as Board Member of Upside Foods (the world’s leading cultivated meat company) and Method Oregon. Throughout his career Rob has been deeply involved in the wine world, including representing many of the world’s leading wine producers and importers.  He has lived and worked in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America and during that time has had the pleasure of enjoying many of the world’s greatest wine producing regions.
